Beautiful muted antique French (Barbizon) school oil on canvas board by Alexandre Dronsart (1890 - 1953).  This is what I call a 'quiet' painting, one that doesn't shout but still makes a big impact on the atmosphere and the calmness of a room.  This is one of my favourite French artists.  He uses a palette that's true to the landscape, hazy lilacs, gorgeous greens and the juxtaposition of darkness in the fore combined with the light of the sky to demonstrate this wonderful painting of a prairie.   The canvas is relatively smooth with a textured prairie in the fore...

Condition: The painting is in good vintage condition.  However, it does have imperfections, particulalry around the peripherie where it would once have been frame, but I think a new frame would hide most of these.
