Large, substantial, signed impressionist antique still life painting of a mixed floral display sitting on a wood table covered with a cloth. Here, the artist has introduced interest by adding a sweet china bowl in white and blue and a book. Notice how the tablecloth is ruffled so that the artist can apply light and shading. This beautiful 1920's impressionist luminous floral in a gold coloured wood frame is typically French School. It's on a thick board, which is quite smooth with raised texturized areas depicting the flowers and it's in its original frame. A true statement maker....

Signed: Charles Auguste Edelman (1879-1950) Son of Frédéric Henri E., a medical doctor, and Françoise Jeanne Binder. He was a student of Gérome and F. Humbert. He exhibited in 1909 for the first time at the Salon des Artistes Français. He was there again from 1910 to 1914. In Strasbourg, he exhibited at the Salon Grombach in 1910, at the Château des Rohan in 1912, and at the Exposition des Artistes vivants de l'Est de la France at the Palais du Rhin in 1924-1925. His work is characterized by his oil paintings, on the one hand, and by his illustration works, on the other. His work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from 157 USD to 4,492 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork.
Condition: This painting is in very good antique condition with some marks at the corners and edges. It's in a vintage fold coloured frame, expect wear and tear associated with an vintage item such as losses of paint at the cornersetc. However, the whole is very attractive and quite sturdy.
