A charming impressionist landscape oil painting of the village of St Hilaire in France by French artist Felix Niaut.  This painting hails from the 1930's.  The hues of varying greens are very effective.  In the fore, a farm workers rests against a bail of hay, but your eye is drawn to the village, where the cream/grey facade of the church greets you first and then the little houses with their clay roofs peek out from the trees.

Medium: Oil on wood board (isorel)

Overall size: 20ins x 17.5ins or 51cms x 44.5cms

Date: 1930's

Condition: The painting is in good vintage condition.  The ornate old wood frame is also vintage so expect wear and tear associated with a pre-owned object such as indentations, visible nails, losses etc.  The whole comes together very well.

Signed: Felix Niaut (1895-1988)  Felix lived in Doullens, in the Somme region of France and was a landscape artist of the region, he also painted impressionist flowers.  The back of this painting bears a label that Felix was a Laureat of Rosati of France a society of independent artists, who delivered national and international exhibitions of French art.
