This is a beautiful old 19th century French Barbizon oil painting on stretched canvas in a very, very  heavy, ornate wood and stucco/gilt frame by French artist J Roberts, signed and dated 1896 in the bottom right corner.  A woman and her two children stand on a footpath next to their goats.  A smooth to the touch canvas. Date: 1896
Condition: This painting is in a very good antique condition.  As you would expect from a painting of this age, there are imperfections but on the whole, this painting and faired very well on its travel through time.  The frame seems to be the original.  Expect losses of moulding, indentations, visible nails and numerous old renovations which gives it character and authenticity.
