Fabulously atmospheric early 1800's authentic antique French oval oil portrait of a gentleman it its original heavy gold coloured stucco frame.  He wears a high collar and dinner jacket. An ornate pin is tucked away in his shirt and his blue/grey eyes peer out from the distance of time.  He has a confident look, head slightly to the right.  All in all, it's a very delightful traditional piece with a smooth shiny canvas that would grace any home.

Condition: The painting is in very good condition for the age. Totally authentic, it's in the original frame with no renovations visible, but there is craquelure throughout.  There is some missing paint at the very top of the painting (see photos).  The frame is very good for the age as well although there is some missing moulding.  The whole comes together very well and makes a super atmospheric painting....
