Large vintage interior oil painting of a vignette and chair by French artist Marie Berton-Maire, signed in the lower right and most likely in its original frame.   This is a wonderful large old interior painting, in deep rich hues depicting a commode, or chest of drawers, with two lamps and a colourful vase of flowers against a curtained backdrop.  You can be sure of the artist's ability as Marie Berton-Maire won a gold medal/1st class medal at the  Salon des Artistes Français in 1942.
Which makes Marie rather special as an artist and landmarks this painting as a crucial piece of artistic history.
