Amazingly attractive large antique French male portrait of a fine gentleman in a bow tie and suit.  This wonderful framed old painting is signed and dated on the lower left side and hails from 1861.  An exceptional old portrait!  A painting that is very easy on the eye.  A rather well to do handsome young French gentlemen sits for the artist in his fine and dandy clothes. This kind of portrait, even in France is quite rare. A hard to find and substantial piece!

Condition: The painting presents well for the age but there has been a repair (near to the lapel on the left-hand side), renovation and retouches.  There are minor losses of paint throughout.  Please check out the photos to make sure that you are happy with the condition. I would not envisage any work to be done, its all clean and perfectly imperfect!  The frame is vintage but much more recent, however they seem to go together very well. If you are a fan of dark moody handsome male portrait paintings, then this one may be for you!  A real classic stunner who follows you around the room....
