Antique nude portrait painting by French artist, Julian Tavernier ((1879-1939).  This impressive and distinctive oil painting of a nude looking into and reflected by a mirror is beautifully rendered.  The tonal hues of the woman's body is second to none.  Oils are thinly layered both by brush and couteau by this artist who evidently loves the female form.  Notice the careful tonal work on the torso, here the artist applied his trade to an exacting standard, reminiscent of a carved statue.  The auburn hair of the model, cut in a typical 1920's style reflects the beautiful skin tones which stand out from a darker, but slight suggestion of colourful bedding or clothes that surround the model.
