Antique portrait painting of 'Mima' by French artist Léon Jean Pétua (1846-1921) This wonderful old portrait with deep rich hues and stunning details is from a renown and well respected artist.  Mima leans with her head resting on her arm.  She wears a pretty bow ribbon that matches her skirt tied over a white blouse the canvas is smooth to the touch.

Signed: Léon Jean Pétua (1846-1921) painter born in Besançon, Léon Pétua apprenticed as a photographer with Auguste Lumière, but he also wielded a pencil and brush. He was accepted at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and became a pupil of Jean-Léon Gérôme, in whose studio he won several medals. He taught drawing at Winthertur between 1875 and 1915, training many artists in the process.

Condition:  This painting is in good condition for the age but you should expect imperfections throughout such as losses of paint.  The frame appears to be the original, it's sturdy, but again expect imperfections throughout such as losses of moulding and renovations.
