Antique French female oil portrait.  This is a wonderful old painting, coming from the mid to late 1800's It's unframed and unsigned but not unloved as I think it has been well looked after through the ages because of its good condition.  A woman sits and looks direct at the artist.  She is middle aged and dressed in black.  She is most likely a widow as she wears a portrait around her neck, possibly of her late husband.  Her hair is set in quite a severe, off the face style and crowned by a black bonnet which is tied loosely around her neck, above a white frilly collar.  It's a very simple portrait, but highly effective and would make a good centre room statement piece.

Medium: Oil on thick wood

Overall size: 18ins x 22ins or 46cms x 55cms (Approx)

Date: 1800's

Provenance: France.

Signed:  No

Condition:  This painting is in remarkably good condition for the age, however expect imperfections  nothing onerous, such as markings around the edges, which could be hidden by a frame, where it would once have been framed and the beginning of a tiny hole, towards the top right of her head. Some craquelure.  This painting is in it's original condition, on the original chassis, not relined.

This painting is sent fully insured, track and trace with Colissimo.
