Antique portrait of a woman, French school from the mid 1800's. This is a very attractive portrait.  A young woman looks straight at the artist.  She wears her hair parted in the middle in two directions.  She wears a beautiful necklace which sits within a detailed lace collar, embellished by impasto thickened oils. atop a black dress. It's a simple but effective and appealing portrait.

Condition:  This painting and frame have not passed through time without scars.  The painting: A wonderfully rich visual piece has a tiny area of missing paint bottom left and minor imperfections throughout.  The frame: also has imperfections, particularly at the corners with missing moulding but overall its a good solid piece.
