RESERVED Very attractive original dog oil painting by reknown French artist, Augustin Luc Demoussy (1809-1880). A rare portrait of a dog against a coastal background. The intricate detailing really brings this portait to life and it is fortunate that the dog is incredibly attractive with it's patched eyes and almost white coat. It's on a smooth canvas (see condition report below).

Signed: Augustin Luc Demoussy (1809-1880) French painter and lithographer, born October 5 1809 in Paris and died in the same city in January 1880. Enters Ecole des Beaux Arts in 1829, was a student of professors HEISENT and Abel de PUJOL. He debuted in Salon in 1833 and won the medal of the 3rd degree in 1837.
Condition:  This painting is in good condition for the age, however, the canvas has been professionally relined and restored, there is a renovation to the left of the dog's head in the tree.  The frame has also had some restauration, but is in a good sturdy condition and enhances the portrait.
