Late 1800's antique French riverscape/landscape oil painting.  This mellow and slightly moody old oil painting is on a canvas board.  Illuminated on the right by an open animated and stormy sky, reflected in the cool, calm waters of a river.  Your eye is then taken to the darkness of the forest on the left where an earthen path takes you along the length of the water.  The natural and realistic hues of green, blue and greys play nicely with each other, while the centre of attention is the little silver boat house, where you can just make out the steps and handrail that lead down to it and of course the little brown boat that awaits its owner and paddle.  A very calming painting that is slightly textured to the touch.

Condition: The painting is in good antique condition.  Expect some imperfections such as faint lines some darkened varnish, missing paint (middle left side) and a small hole top middle where the board would have once been pinned to a wall. The frame is later, vintage and its a good professional job.
