Antique French snow landscape oil painting by French artist, Ernest Gaston Amas (1869-1959) see photo. A palette of winter's hues has been laid on thick wood board. The eye is guided to the centre of the painting by a snowy path surrounded by wintered trees. A very atmospheric snow bound composition with an array of winter hues.

Condition: The painting, although not perfect, is in very good antique condition, some varnish discolouration. The frame is quite likely the original, it is in good condition for the age with imperfections and renovations.
Signed: Ernest Gaston Amas (1869-1959) A painter from Landrecies, France, portraits, landscapes, genre scenes and flowers. He was a pupil of Gustave Moreau (1826-1898), William Bouguereau and Luc-Olivier Merson at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1889 onwards, became a Salon member, received an honourable mention in 1897, and was awarded a silver medal and the Rosa Bonheur prize in 1921. Ernest has his own museum in Landrecies and his works are exhibited in museums throughout France. He is listed in Akoun with an average price of 2,400€ for a larger sized painting. (P15)
