A truly beautiful oil painting by Suzanne Demarest (1900 - 1985) of three women in a landscape setting by a river.  It's one of those paintings that is as gentle and captivating as a whisper, inviting the viewer to become one of the group and to share their secrets and lives.  You can see the link between this artist's career illustrating 'haute couture' in Paris, because the beautiful dresses flow from their wearers.  It's quite wistful, with undeniable sensitivity and reminds me of a picnic on a summer's day with wonderful friends where you can share confidences and secrets....

Condition:  This painting is in good vintage condition with bright and cheerful colours.  There are tiny losses of paint and craquelure in the top left area.   The frame is vintage, probably the original, expect wear and tear such as indentations missing paint associated with age and wear, additionally the inner sleeve is splintered in the top right area.  The painting and the frame come together very well to make an effective piece.
