Large mid-century original still life oil painting by French artist, Louise Alix (1888-1980), signed in the lower right corner. A competent still life, good composition en plien air with plenty of brush applied elevated colour by an accomplished and acclaimed French artist. A canvas that is textured to the touch with an array of hues that would fit any interior and would certainly fill a large wall. The colour depth is amazing....

Signed: Louise Alix (1888-1980) Born in Paris, painter, decorative artist of landscapes, still lifes and portraits. Louise Alix studied under Yvonne Delattre and Henri Zo. She exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français between 1926 and 1941, receiving a commendation in 1928, the Bernheim de Villiers prize in 1933, and the silver medal for applied arts in 1935. She also occasionally exhibited her work at the Salon des Indépendants. (Benezit)
