Delightful and quite unusual post impressionist vintage oil painting of children's shoes by Belgium artist, Jacques Bermans, signed in the top right and dated 1916.  This post-impressionist painting is quite textured to the touch with big swirly brushstrokes to animate these little objects.  Impasto thickened oils help to elevate the little white and pink shoes particularly around the bows.  However, it is the depth and careful play of colour and the contrasts between the inner and out elements of the shoes that takes your eye into this detailed yet simplistic art treasure.
