A beautiful large old oil painting by Louis Foulet, the style is bordering on cubist and reminds me of the still lifes by Paul Cézanne. Signed in the bottom right corner this original oil painting is simple but effective. In neutral colours but with a varied palette the artist has given us an antique painting with a contempoary feel that would be at home in any modern day kitchen or dining area and because of its large size would provide an eye catching, wall filling addition to the home. The canvas is relatively smooth with additions of impasto enforced oils to raise the surface for very effective highlights especially for the glass ware and above all, the clarity and luminosity of this painting is second to none.
