Large early 20th century watercolour/gouache painting on thick paper on wood board. This is an amazingly atmospheric painting.  The palette is primarily white, green and blue/purple.  A table is set on a railed garden terrace.  White roses, freshly picked fill a tall  vase while others tumble off the table.   It's a simple composition that is truly effective by French artist, Louise Alix (1888-1980), it's unsigned but came from a collection found in Northern France.

Signed: No.  Louise Alix (1888-1980) Born in Paris, painter, decorative artist of landscapes, still lifes and portraits.  Louise Alix studied under Yvonne Delattre and Henri Zo. She exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français between 1926 and 1941, receiving a commendation in 1928, the Bernheim de Villiers prize in 1933, and the silver medal for applied arts in 1935. She also occasionally exhibited her work at the Salon des Indépendants. (Benezit)
Condition:  This painting is in very good condition, it has been mounted on wood board and varnished with an archival produce so that there is no need for glass.  There are minor imperfections throughout as you would expect with a piece of art this age.  It would do well in a frame of your choice.
