Antique French female portrait from the 1800's.  This is a delightful portrait, traditional, simple and unassuming but at the same time, effective.  A woman sits on a simple chair with a wood back, she looks directly at the artist.  She is relaxed, confident, assertive. Her bodice/jacket gathers her waist tightly and a cotton blouse with lace collar and cuffs adds interest.

Condition:  A good visual piece with imperfections associated with age, particularly around the edges of the painting.  The painting has been relined fairly recently, possibly in the 70's or 80's and given a new frame.  At that time there would have been some minor renovation, all this work has been carried out properly by a professional in Paris.  The frame has minor wear and tear and the painting suffers some raised areas on the canvas where the canvas has lifted from the lining (see video).
