Beautiful antique oil on canvas portrait of a woman with blue eyes. A charming, signed and dated portrait of a woman, head and shoulders forward facing in a blue ball gown which perfectly matches her eyes.  The canvas is quite smooth with some raised highlights. Stunning!

Constantin Jean Lucien Antonin Font, born January 11, 1890 in Auch and died January 25, 1954 in Paris, was a French orientalist painter of genre, nudes, landscapes, sculptor and engraver.

He was a member of the Société des artistes français without competition and was a student of Fernand Cormon. After obtaining a mention in 1910 at the Salon, he won a silver medal in 1921, the year of his Prix de Rome. He exhibited the same year at the Salon des artistes français Le Cimetière d'El Kettar. Since then, he appeared with honors at the events of this Society, where he was awarded the gold medal in 1922. Grand Prix of Athens. Member of the Academy of Fine Arts of Toulouse. Member of the Institute in 1926. Grand Prize at the International Exhibition of 1937.

Constantin Font illustrated works such as the Méthode grecque et exercices illustrés (classes de 4e, 3e, 2e, 1re) by Paul Crouzet.  He also painted murals for French public schools.

Honors
Constantin was named Knight of the Order of the Legion of Honor in 1935. He received the Interallied Medal 1914-1918, the Commemorative Medal of the 1914-1918 war, the Commemorative Medal of the Orient and the Serbian Commemorative Medal.
