A rare vintage realist still life oil painting on thick board. Fine Belgium art by Hendrick Brandtsoen. A special chiaroscuro painting by an artist who used techniques of the 17th century to achieve a realist outcome to his paintings. Here, the light rustic jug and beautifully crisp napkin provide the light against a dark, almost black background. The jug sits on a silver plate and dark and luscious plums balance the composition with the light falling just off centre. In the top background you can bearly see a darkened tree landscape. The board is smooth to the touch and you can just about see a printed signature bottom right.
