Rare and stunning antique oil on stretched canvas of Herrings, lemon and a seashell.  Two Herrings lay on a piece of paper while a piece of lemon awaits to garnish them when cooked.  The scene is completed by a large shell.  The fish are beautifully painted with layers of rustic hues darkening to petrol blues.  The shell provides an interesting part of an otherwise dark background, echoing the blue shades in the fish and accentuated by impasto thickened pink oil.  The painting sits within a beautiful old wood gilt rustic frame which matches exactly with the golden tones of the fish.

Date: 1920's
Condition: The painting is in good antique condition condition, expect minor imperfections associated with age.  The frame is very likely to be the original, again, age associated imperfections throughout, indentations etc.
