Very attractive French antique oil painting in the Barbizon style.  This 19th century oil on stretched canvas is centered around a lake, the trees providing focus and the ability of the artist to reflect them beautifully in the calm water.  A French farmhouse draws the eye in across the lake to the muted fields beyond. Meanwhile in the fore, the blue of the lake and the darker shadows of green provide depth and interest, making this a very delightful, but unusual take on the Barbizon school.

Condition: The painting is in good antique condition, however there is a renovation and craquelure throughout.  It looks to be in its original frame, again some renovation, wear and tear, indentations and nails at the corners as expected with an article of this age. The whole presents very well.
